The team behind the counter – this is Sylvia Seidel and Ioannis Efstathiou. Sylvia Seidel has been working at the Grand Hotel bar since the year 2004. “She is my second home,” she says, smiling. “The profession behind the bar is my calling.” Anyone who observes Sylvia Seidel quickly finds out that she lives her work behind the bar. And that every day. “I have always been a night owl,” says Sylvia Seidel, who enjoys photographing in her spare time and thus discovering new corners of the island of Rügen again and again.

The love of the bar was discovered by Sylvia Seidel during her training as a restaurant-doctor in Bavaria. “In my second year of school, I went behind the bar – I just wanted to do that.” Your colleague Ioannis Efstathiou nods at these words. He has been mixing cocktails for the dream holiday on Rügen in the Private Palace Grand Hotel for over a year. “At a previous employer I had to help out at the bar – I felt right away, that’s exactly mine. I like the direct wire to the guest. And I think it’s great if I can help if the guest finds peace and relaxation at our bar. “
Sylvia Seidel and Ioannis Efstathiou are looking out for taste explosions. “There are always new ideas – we are looking for inspiration in specialist newspapers or on the Internet. And we find them – there are simply no limits. And that’s a good thing, “says the Greek, who has been living in Germany since 1997 and is in power sports.
The model athlete still has a second passion and a dream: a VW Corrado. “Ever since I was a little boy, I always wanted such a sports car. I had Corrado posters in my nursery on the wall. I am currently working with friends to complete a Corrado, “says the 31-year-old.

Sylvia Seidel and Ioannis Efstathiou direct their gaze to the back wall of the Shaker’s Bar, where there are countless spirits. “We have 34 different types of whisky alone,” says Sylvia Seidel. “Quite clearly, this bar has earned five stars just like the house.” But not the most diverse spirits make up the special charm of the bar – it is the people who exude joy here. “Communication with the guest is the most important thing. And we do not give all-inclusive cocktail recommendations – if we know what the guest likes, we offer a special cocktail, ” both tell in unison. “We work here as a team – and that fits perfectly together.
The legendary summer Bowl for a holiday on the Baltic Sea is also perfectly tuned. “We prepare them with watermelon, liqueurs and sparkling wine”, says Sylvia Seidel, who points to another peculiarity of the Shaker’s bar: The English smoking Pavilion in the garden of the private Palace Grand Hotel Binz as well as the sun terrace overlooking the Biosphere Reserve “Granitz”. “It’s a beautifully arranged ensemble.”
