In Paul Heckel, a new top chef has hired in the 4.5 Star House. His goal: to convince guests and restaurant critics with his culinary delights.


Ostseebad Binz – fresh, cheeky and imaginative: with the credo “sea-culinary” The gourmet restaurant “Rugard’s” starts in the Private Palace Rugard Strandhotel in Binz in the season. The new fine dining crew, which calls itself the gourmet rebels, has a clear mission: to conjure up excellent culinary delicacies from regional products – and to seduce the guests and delight the restaurant professionals.


Paul Heckel has the say in the kitchen. The native is on the terrace of the restaurant and takes a deep breath. “The view from our restaurant on the 5th floor is awesome – the best Baltic view over the rooftops of Binz”, the 27 years old, who previously worked in a 5-star house on Timmendorfer Strand, raves. “We place great emphasis on creativity – we look forward to meeting the individual wishes of our guests beyond the menu.”


Paul Heckel and Restaurant Manager David Bilbija, put on the best service and the freshness of the region. “Farmers breed the best salt meadows for us – fishermen and traders in the region always supply us with their best quality products”, explains Austrian David Bilbija in the famous Viennese diatribe.


A 3-course meal in “Rugard’s” costs only 30 euros. “For each additional course we charge 10 euros,” explains David Bilbija. The gourmet restaurant is well known far beyond the borders of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the year 2015 it already received a Michelin Star. Last year, the restaurant critics of Gault Millau honored the culinary gem with 14 points.


The glass exterior elevator of the Rugard Strandhotel on the Strandpromenade (Strandabgang 33) brings guests quickly and comfortably to the best cuisine of the island of Rügen. “We offer an authentic cuisine, the best view of the Baltic Sea and top service,” It brings Paul Heckel to the point.
