On 25th March 2017 the writer presents her book “Señora Gerta” on the occasion of a culinary literature evening at the panorama restaurant “Bernstein” in Binz.

Ostseebad Binz – the Private Palace Rugard Strandhotel pilots the best-selling author Anne Siegel for a culinary literature evening in Binz. On 25th March this year the writer will be taking a look at the panorama restaurant “Bernstein” of the Private Palace Rugard Strandhotel and reading from her work “Señora Gerta”.

“This evening we are going to join in great literature with top-class cuisine – and that with a magnificent view over the Bay of Binz”, promises Rugard – General Director Birte Löhr. “Our top chefs have devised a special menu.” The “Aperitif Maison” is followed by a automated fish soup with salmon and shrimp. During the main courses, guests can choose between two dishes – either stewed cod with herbal risotto and carrot-celery vegetables or fried guinea fowl with potatoes and carrot-celery vegetables. The crowning conclusion is a “white brownie” with homemade peppermint ice on chocolate soil.


The event starts at 18.30 Admission costs € 35 per person – including menu and aperitif.


About the book “Señora Gerta”


Gerta starts into life promises fame and wealth. As the daughter of one of the most renowned Jewish families in Austria, the actress is promoted to the IT girl in Vienna in 1920s. Her wedding with the professional footballer “Moses Stern” seems to make her fortune perfect. But in view of the growing anti-Jewish mood, the young couple decides to leave Austria. In Hamburg they are desperately waiting for their visas to arrive in South Africa, where Moses is arrested and taken to a concentration camp. Gerta marches forward to Gestapo headquarters with the courage to leave. While Moses is unwilling to escape from the concentration camp thanks to her initiative, Gerta is unexpectedly finding an unexpected accomplice who is outwardly a staunch Nazi.

The 1964 in northern Germany-born Anne Siegel studied economics, social sciences and psychology, lived and worked in England, Israel and the Netherlands. She is a journalist, radio drama writer, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker for German and US productions. With “Northern Brides” she was nominated in 2015 for the best novel debut for the Hamburg Literature Prize.
